How does it work?
Subtito uses generative AI to translate subtitles to your language on demand straight from within the Stremio app!
Currently we offer OpenAI's GPT-3.5 Turbo and GPT 4 Turbo as our large language models for translations, giving users flexibility in accuracy and pricing.
As new models with broad language support are released, we will add them to our service.
Does Subtito transcribe the audio directly?
Subtito does not transcribe audio.
Instead, we search online sources for the best available subtitles. If we can't find any in your chosen language, we use AI to translate them for you.
Subtitles already available in your language will be provided directly from our providers without charge.
How much does Subtito cost?
Subtito is a pay-as-you-go service. You'll only pay for the translations you generate.
The cost of a translation depends on the model, the length of the media, and the language chosen. Using GPT 3.5 Turbo as an example, typical generations for a 45 minute video may range from $0.06 to $0.12 USD.
Our pricing is is directly correlated with the cost of the underlying AI models. We expect pricing to decrease over time and will update our pricing as OpenAI updates theirs.
How long do translations take?
Translations are typically generated within 10 to 30 seconds, depending on the length of the subtitle and the load on OpenAI's servers.
Occasionally, translations may fail to generate if their servers are under heavy load. In such cases, you can try again later.
You will not be charged for failed or incomplete translations.
How do I use it?
Once you have installed Subtito, open Stremio and start watching your favorite content. You will see the subtitles listed for your language in the subtitle selection menu.
